“I have a shorter stature…”- individual concerns and features

At Plus Size Bride Australia we truly believe that every woman is a beautiful, unique goddess. We are passionate about ensuring that each and every bride feels every bit as amazing as she truly is on her wedding day. We also understand that women know their bodies and preferences of how they present themselves to be truly happy with their appearance. We all know what our proudest assets are, and want to accentuate them, and vice versa with the aspects of ourselves that we wish to minimise or ‘hide’ for want of a better word.

“I have a shorter stature…”

If you would like to appear taller, look for an empire waistline, it will elongate the figure.

A natural waistline would also be suitable for a shorter bride, whilst a dropped waistline will shorten your legs. Try to find a style with more detail on the bodice than the skirt, as a long clear flowing line from the waist line will give you more height. Excessively full ball gowns may appear to be too much.

“I have large upper arms…”

A sheer or lace bolero over any wedding gown adds a beautiful accent to your wedding day look, and gives subtle cover if you are concerned about your arms.

Off the shoulder straps with a V neckline will draw attention inward.

“I am quite tall…”

Simple silhouettes Such as sheath and A line are best for the taller bride. Gowns with a  dropped waistline and asymmetrical waistline will suit your tall physique.

Highly embellished gowns are not recommended, as they may appear to be a little too busy on a taller bride.

“I have quite broad hips…”

If you are wanting to minimise broad hips, choose a style with a full skirt and natural or high waistline, or a highly embellished gown with an undefined waist line and full skirt.

The flow of the embellishment through to the skirt gives a flowing silhouette with beautiful detail.

Avoid figure hugging silhouettes such as sheath or mermaid.

“I am quite busty…”

Want to accentuate your assets whilst maintaining your modesty? Scooped or sweetheart necklines will flatter, along with V neckline styles and off the shoulder straps.A structured bodice with a ‘lace up’ corset back will give you support. All of our gowns can be made with a lace up back.

Avoid straight necklines, as they will add volume to the bust, along with ruching and fabrics that have a sheen finish (such as organza) over the bust area.
